Techniques to the perfect luscious lips...

1) Be sure to apply foundation around the corners of the lips.
2) Ensure that all imperfections around the lips are well covered up
either with foundation on a correction stick..
3) Select a lip pencil that matches the colour of your lipstick.
4) Use the lip pencil to outline the lips.
5) Check your outline and make sure they are even on both sides of the lips.
6) Next, colour the inner lips with the lip pencil.
7) Finally use a lip brush and apply the lipstick on your lips.
8) Apply a little lip balm or lip gloss to moisture the lips.
9) The above steps would ensure that your lipstick is long lasting.

Tip: you are able to thicken or thin down your lips by using the lip pencil.
Tip: Lipstick will look very cakey and ugly on crack and dry lips.

Grimas has a variety of long lasting lipstick shades in pearl and matt. We also have 18 different types of lip and eye pencils. Do write in to find out more about our products…

The PERFECT eyeliner.....

The most important feature on our face is our eyes. As they say, the EYEs are the window to our soul.

After applying and blending your eyeshadows, it would be ideal to outline the eyelids. This technique will enhance the eyes and make it look a lot larger and visible from afar.

The technique is however to outline it very thinly and as near as possible towards the inner eyelids. This to ensure it looks natural.

Make sure your hand is steady when applying the liquid liner. If they are shaky, it will create very jagged lines and that really does not look pretty at all. If the outlines are too thick, your eyes will look very heavy and this is not advisable especially during the day.

In fact, if applied incorrectly, it gives a totally opposite effect and you might end up looking like ‘Elvira’ on a bad day!

Try using our Grimas eyeshadow black 001 as an eyelid liner. It is easy to apply and has a 2 in 1 application. First, as an eyeshadow and second as a liquid liner.

All you do is just spray a little water on the eyeshadow and then use your make-up brush to mix it till the texture is correct.

And voila, it becomes a water resistant liquid liner. The effect is beautiful and long lasting.

Conceal or not to conceal

Most of us do not have flawless looking skin. Problems such as pigmentation, freckles, fresh pimples, dark eye circles or spots of discoloration on the skin are a few issues we women face. But of course….we want to look like we indeed do have FLAWLESS looking skin.

The usual trick would be to use a concealer to cover the problems on our face however the current concealers out there does not necessarily do the job. It is often not thick enough and can only manage to cover partially of what we want it to cover.

Try out our Grimas NEW Correction stick. It is meant to cover all the problem areas on our face. It comes in 5 different shades and is suitable for all skin types. The ingredients are more concentrated and stronger than the other ‘concealers’ in the market right now.

How Do We Choose The RIGHT Foundation Colour???

“How do we know if this foundation colour suits us?” Many of us ask. Confuse over what is the right foundation colour for your skin? To begin choosing the right foundation, you must first determine if the foundation colour is used for daily wear, stage or studio. Different usage requires different types of foundation. A foundation colour used for daily wear will never be suitable at all for stage & performance use. The undertones in the foundations are completely different hence creating a different effect.

Always select the colour nearest to your skin colour. Not a lighter tone because you want to be fair and definitely not a darker tone because you fancy the tan look.

When testing the colour, always test it at the side of your jaw bone and NOT on your hand. Most make-up counter sales girls will test the foundation colours on your hand which is not the correct method because the skin tone on your hand and face is different.

Next, always check your foundation colour under bright sunlight. That is the best way to tell if the colour looks good on you or not. When you completely sure the colour looks totally natural on your face and you are unable to tell if you had any foundation on, then you have succeeded in finding the correct foundation for yourself.

Come check out our Grimas range of foundations. We have 10 different colours for liquid foundation, 44 colours for Creme Foundation and 48 colours for cake make-up foundation.

Colour My Eyes....

For those who enjoys a little colour in their eyes....try using brighter colours from our Grimas Eyeshadow/rouge range. Over 64 different eyeshadow/rouge colours, you will definitely find something suitable to your liking.

The colours used above are 485 Green and 282 yellow from the Eyeshadow/rouge range. Apply 032 Pastel Blue Polyglitter to shimmer up the outer corners of the eyes. Finish the look off with a black liquid liner. Extend the line slightly beyond the outer corners of the eye.

Add fancy eyelashes and rhinestones to complete this glamourous look.

Tip:
Prep the eye area with an all over white cream make-up (eyebase). This allows colours to lasts longer and blends smoothly.

Tip:
Grimas Black eyeshadow/rouge can be used also as a liquid liner.

How to do Classical Ballet Stage make-over...

For those who are interested to learn stage make-up for classical ballet, below are the steps that you can follow. Standard classical ballet requires basic brown tones of matt & pearl eyeshadow. The look is supposed to be much exaggerated to ensure that the audiences are able to view the features and facial expressions for afar. This look enhances the eyes so it appears a lot bigger on stage. Performance and stage make-up are meant to be very heavy and dark.

Note: All products used below are from the Grimas range.

1) Cleanse with Grimas cleansing lotion.

2) Use ‘Grimas Under Make-Up Base’ over entire face.

3) Apply Cake make-up foundation

4) 101 Black eyeshadow/rouge for eyebrows

5) Use crème make-up 001 white for eyebase and 704 pearl eyeshadow for highlight.

6) Next apply 890 matt eyeshadow / rouge & 708 pearl eyeshadow over lower eyelids.

7) Use 566 dark brown matt eyeshadow/rouge & 785 dark brown pearl eyeshadow to
create an extreme ‘V’ shape.

8) Brush on white 001 crème make-up at the bottom of the eye together with
704 pearl eyeshadow.

9) Draw a white line at the side of the eyes.

10) Line the bottom of the eye with 566 dark brown eyeshadow/rouge.

11) Liquid liner - 101 Black eyeshadow /rouge

12) Apply mascara.

13) Apply fake thick & long eyelashes.

14) Rouge the face.

15) Finally apply lipstick to match.

At last, there you have created a Prima Donna Classical ballet stage make-up.

Glitter up your face...

Many of us would like to look extra special whenever we go out partying or attending a social function. As it is, being a working girl in the city, we tend to go out right after work rather than going home to change and make-up before coming out again. With the right change of accessories and make-over, we are all set to paint the town red!!!

Especially at night, we would want our eyes to stand out. Mascara is definitely important. Thick and long eyelashes are definitely a ‘must have’. Next would be applying eyeshadows and glitter to brighten up the eyes.

Use Grimas ‘Polyglitter’ and a tube of Stoppelpaste. Dab the stoppelpaste over your eyeshadow then use ‘Polyglitter’ and simply apply over whatever eyeshadow colour you are using and blend them evenly. It gives a layer of glitter over your eyes.

Voila, you have a set of sexy and glittery eyes that sparkles! With a dash of rouge and gloss up your lips, you are definitely ready to party the night…

Grimas ‘Polyglitter’ has over 20 different colours….be sure to check it out if you want sparkly eyes….

How to control oily T-zone...

Most of us with asian skin have a problem with our T-zone area on our faces. Especially with our humid malaysian weather, it tends to be rather oily and greasy most of the time. Have you noticed that it tends to be worse especially after applying your foundation and make-up? Those who have oily skin will notice that they might have to powder their faces often and sometimes up to 5-10 times in a short couple of hours.

For those of you, who are looking for a quick fix, do try out Grimas’s ‘Antishine’. It is a truly amazing product that mattes up your face and it lasts for hours.

.It is really simple to use. All you have to do is use a little 'Antishine' before applying any form of foundation or make-up on your face, Use very little of it because if you apply too much, it will be rubbery and clumps up after applying your foundation.
Remember, just a quick fix of ‘Antishine’ solves your 'oily T-zone' problem. My pictures taken these days definitely look much better without those shiny spots on my face. Please do not hesitate to write or call me if you need more information about this product.

History of Grimas...

GRIMAS Manufacturer/Producer of Make-up for Professional and Hobby

GRIMAS was founded more than 20 years ago and is located in Haarlem, Holland very near to Amsterdam. The name GRIMAS is the direct Dutch translation of the English word “grimace” and the German “grimasse” which means distortion of the face, making facial expressions, funny faces.

GRIMAS was an idea born out of sincere and playful interest by three good school friends – all with an academic background and all with the desire to do something different. Their academic backgrounds were very different and not directly related to Make-up. One had an education in chemistry, another in finance. Apart from being good friends with good educations they could see the potential and the need of developing safe make-up alternatives with a high quality for children – and the Water-make-up was born. The make-up produced was of such a high quality and control that GRIMAS would not, and still would not allow the products to be sold from ordinary Toy shops / art shops and alike.

In the beginning GRIMAS was mainly producing make-up for the hobby market and was for a number a years regarded as a “make-up for fun” brand. This has changed and GRIMAS is today producing the full range high quality make-up products, which covers beauty, personal, stage/drama, TV/film, special effects, and hobby. A long list of special products and foundations
Color-adjusted especially for stage and studio light is now available.

Throughout the times GRIMAS has stayed loyal and steadfast to their original idea and concept. Products are still developed with quality, safety, purity and children in mind. In fact, GRIMAS refuse to use certain colors and pigments even so they are approved for use in the cosmetics industry. GRIMAS is also a pioneer on labeling of products with the actual content of ingredients and did so way before the law in Europe required labeling of content.

The entire range of GRIMAS products is today very big and is still growing bigger. The prices are, as always, kept on a very reasonable and affordable level compared to other professional brands and even commercial brands. Furthermore, GRIMAS products are of a very high pigment concentration and as such a person would need lesser of a product compared to commercial brands.

GRIMAS’s products are not tested on animals but on volunteers and paid test persons. All products are tested on groups of 30 persons for 24, 48, 72 hour of exposure to see if any reaction may occur. Furthermore, all products have been eaten once in an amount equal to its biggest packaging. It is of course not to say that the product is edible – but, just in case if it is ever eaten, it will be not be harmful or dangerous.

Today GRIMAS is known and sold world wide, from US to Asia. With GRIMAS, a person can do subtle bridal make-up, an elaborate evening make-up or extreme character and special effect make-up.

Beautifying Women...

Being in the beauty industry for some time now, I love new challenges when it comes to beautifying women. Trying out different styles on these women be it romantic, sexy, wild & funky or gothic has always been fun and exciting to me. Different styles require different set of skills and challenges. It is always so satisfying when a client is happy with the results. In order to make these women look good and to ensure the make-up last for many hours, the make-up products used are very important. I have come to realize that certain make-up products may seem nice when applied initially however after and hour or less, the make-up on the face seems to become dull. These normally happen when we are using cheap asian cosmetic products. After researching on a few brands, I have found a brand where the make-up lasts long and remains vibrant and it has a beautiful range of make-up products. I highly recommend Grimas from Holland which has a wide range of products and the quality is of very high standards.

Grimas is a professional make-up brand which is formulized for professional make-up artists and beauty consultants. It comes in very concentrated form and therefore would require professionals to be able to know how to use it.

Grimas consist of many products ranging from different types of foundations, lipsticks, eyeshadows, powders and etc... They also have products used for special effects make-up such as bald caps, nose wax, Dermawax, latex milk, latex pieces, tooth enamel and many others. I have had lots of fun experimenting and playing with the latex pieces such as the elf ears and witch’s nose. With their wide colour range of wolcrepe, it is also quite fun because I am able to make fake beards and eyebrows.

The beautiful part of this brand is that the eyeshadow colours are so vibrant and sharp. When applied, the colours do not become dull and lasts for many hours. It also does not run out of season unlike some other cosmetic brands. The colours are always available and they have up to 75 different colours. Even for their foundations, they have three different types ranging from cake make-up, liquid foundation and crème make-up. All three are used for different purposes. I especially love the crème and cake foundation because they virtually give my client a flawless complexion. Just the crème foundation alone, they have up to 70 colours and 44 colours alone are meant for different types of skin tones.

Using Grimas is really exciting because it stirs the creativity in me. If there are any other make-up artists who crave to do more, know more and experiment more, they should definitely try Grimas out. With its beautiful colours and vast range of products, it definitely pushes our creativities beyond our boundaries! Grimas definitely rules…..

I welcome all professional make-up artists to discuss and share our knowledge together….
